چکیده

Group B Streptococcus (GBS), a commensal in the body, causes wide range of infectious diseases. This bacterium is dangerous for pregnant women and their babies, whom it responsible early neonatal bacterial sepsis (EOS). The colonisation levels GBS its resistance profile to antibiotics provide important information that useful orienting prevention strategies. There are few data available on subject determination phenotypes Cameroon. We therefore aimed determine prevalence antibiotic resistance, including patterns inducible clindamycin, city Yaounde. To achieve this goal, prospective cross-sectional study with an analytical component was carried out from 28 June 29 August 2020 at BIOSANTE laboratory Yaounde Gynaeco-Obstetrics Paediatrics hospital. Vaginal swabs urine were collected 163 women. samples analysed using 5% defibrinated sheep blood agar chocolate plus polyvitex agar. isolates identified morphology colony, Gram staining, haemolysis, catalase tests latex grouping tests. Antibiotic susceptibility testing by disk diffusion method following recommendations ACFSM 2019. double used identify clindamycin-inducible resistance. Our SPSS version 2.1. results obtained showed overall 37% (57/163), or 40.3% non-pregnant 59.7% Pregnancy (p-value = 0.019) earlier (from second semester pregnancy) gestational age 0.025) constituted risk factors maternal GBS. In addition, strains resistant all 16 tested. A D test 64.7% constitutively clindamycin. also note presence M phenotypes. As whole, our demonstrated rate similar higher than those previous reports All these indicate attention should be paid monitoring antimicrobial care newborns.

Introduction: Group B streptococcus (GBS) or Streptococcus agalactiae can colonize the gastrointestinal and genitourinary tracts and has been considered one of the most important risk factors for the development of neonatal disease. The present study evaluated the antimicrobial susceptibility of GBS isolates from pregnant women who were attended at a public health service in Northern Paraná, Br...

Antibiotic susceptibility patterns and prevalence of group B Streptococcus isolated from pregnant women in Misiones, Argentina

This study was performed to determine the susceptibility patterns and the colonization rate of Group B Streptococcus (GBS) in a population of pregnant women. From January 2004 to December 2006, vaginal-rectal swabs were obtained from 1105 women attending Dr. Ramón Madariaga Hospital, in Posadas, Misiones, Argentina. The carriage rate of GBS among pregnant women was 7.6%. A total of 62 GBS strai...
